Scaffolding - NEW RANGE ONLINE!

Standard and High Yield Scaffolding Tubes – How do they compare?

Scaffolding Tubes are 48.3mm in diameter, this makes the main difference between Standard and High Yield tubing in the thickness of the steel. The steel thickness of Standard tubes is 4mm; whereas High Yield Scaffolding Tubes are 3.2mm thick.  Although the High Yield tubing has a 3.2mm thickness and is 25% lighter in weight than Standard Tubes, they both offer a high level of strength. Standard Scaffolding Tubes and High Yield Tubes are available in 5ft, 6ft, 8ft, 10ft, 13ft, 16ft, and 21ft lengths.

Scaffolding Boards

The Scaffolding Boards in our range are made from timber and are 13ft in length. Each panel contains a metal end hoop which helps to prevent splintering and splitting during use. Boards are used to create a secure walkway along the scaffolding structure.

Forged Fittings

The fittings available in our Scaffolding Range have been produced by forging. Compared to fittings produced using other methods, forged fittings are recognised as being of a high quality and stronger. They are slightly more expensive than other types of fittings, but they are built to last.
We have a range of fittings available within our range so you can construct a safe and customisable Scaffolding system to suit your needs.

What are the common uses for Scaffolding Systems?

Due to their versatility, Scaffolding systems can be constructed to a range of specifications. Here are some of their uses:
•             The upkeep and maintenance of the exteriors of existing buildings and structures
•             Providing a safe platform for workers
•             To provide access to high level buildings and raised platforms/roofs
•             Maintenance and repair of bridges using suspended platforms
•             Temporary roofs, walkways and bridges

Avalon Plastic Barrier 2m and 1m
Avalon Barriers meet the 7817 standard for pedestrian restraining systems, making them perfect for controlling pedestrian traffic around road works or for event management.  The locking systems are on either end of the barrier, allowing the barriers to be constructed on both level and uneven ground. This also means that the barriers are difficult to unlock. Highly durable HDPE is used to make the barriers so that they are able to withstand impact.
Available Accessories:
Both Standard Feet and ClearPath Feet are available with this barrier.

Firmus Barrier 2m
The Firmus Barrier is a versatile pedestrian barrier that is compliant with Chapter 8 Standards. The universal linking pins within each of these barriers make the barrier construction process quick and simple. Firmus Barriers, like the Avalon Barriers, are manufactured in the UK using HDPE– giving it hardwearing and lightweight properties.
As well as being supplied with a reflective strip, the Firmus Barrier has optimum visibility in bad weather, due to its compatibility with flashing beacons.

Titan Barrier

Titan Barriers are tested to the highest standards and are incredibly strong and perfectly balanced. This has all gone into making the Titan Barrier one of the most popular Barriers available on the market.
The Titan Barrier is very durable. It is capable of withstanding many years of harsh use meaning that you can use it again and again. Therefore, the Titan Barrier is the perfect choice for those that will have lots of varying projects or for projects that will be active for an extended period of time
The Titan Barrier is Chapter 8 Compliant and includes a red and white reflective strip which makes it highly visible.

Thinking about Hire?

The Hire System
First Fence have a brilliant range of products which are available to hire, including Temporary Fencing panels.  Temporary Fencing panels are used in many different locations, including road and construction works as well as events and festivals. Here is a brief explanation of the process you will go through when hiring from us.

The Initial Steps
The first thing we will do when we find out that you are interested in a hire product is find out exactly what you need the product for. This way we can help you to ensure that hiring the product is the best solution for your needs.

Pricing Breakdown
As hire is not available to request via our website, you will need to call our Sales Team to give a quote; you will then be able to place the order. Here is a quick break down of the costs involved in our hiring process. Quotes are completely free and have no obligation.

Delivery and Collection Cost
The delivery and collection cost is the price that we charge for delivering the products to site and then recollecting them. These will usually be two separate charges - the delivery charge will normally be payable upfront and the collection charge will usually be payable at the end of your contract.

Minimum Hire Term and Weekly Rate

When you first enquire about your order you will be given a minimum hire period. The minimum hire period will usually be payable upfront and all subsequent weeks will be charged on a weekly basis. This means that you can keep the product for as long as you need them without having to worry about your hire contract running out.

Temporary Fencing – Are you ready for event season?

Many people don’t think much into the ‘behind the scenes’ action at festivals and outdoor events taking place each summer. However there is a lot of careful planning that goes into making the even run smoothly.  This includes planning the area and segregating the different zones – this is done using temporary fencing.
As music festivals, Temporary fencing is used for creating enclosures for tents, food areas and stage areas. This helps to manage the large amount of pedestrian traffic and avoid too many people being in the same area all at once.
For Temporary Fencing systems to offer a versatile solution to your needs, this is aided by the vast range of accessories available, such as gates.

Temporary Fencing Gates

When using large amounts of temporary fencing, you will more than likely need a separate gate system for access to the site. Using specialised gate system helps to eliminate potential hazards to health and safety of both vehicles and pedestrians passing in and out of the site. Remember, all access points need to be clearly marked with the correct signs.
Pedestrian and Vehicle Gates comply with BS EN 10244-2 Galvanising Standards just like our Temporary Panels. Both Pedestrian and Vehicle gates are 2 metres high and have several features:
Anti-Climb Mesh – Smaller gaps between the mesh make it tougher to climb; ideal for use in areas that need a higher level of security.
Round Top – Three of the sides of the gate frames and made from one tube, meaning the structure is stronger.
Castor Wheels – These wheels are fitted onto the bottom of the gate and support it when being opened and closed.
Sliding Bolt – Gates come with a catch back post and a sliding bolt, which make securing the site simple with a padlock and chain.

Keeping them on the ground

It is essential that the Temporary Fencing Panels are stable enough to remain upright and to keep the surrounding area safe. There are two different types of feet available online; Standard and High Vis Feet.

Need extra support?

If your temporary fencing is going to be used in areas that are a bit more challenging, you may need to purchase some of the extra products we have available to stabilise the fence:
Stabilising Support Bar – These supporting bars are especially useful for fencing that is being erected on sloping ground.
Stabilising Pins – The stabilising pins are used to support the bars in the ground.
Stabilising Block Tray – These block trays make the temporary fencing is less likely to topple over, especially where there is risk of injury and damage.

Palisade Fencing

Palisade Fencing it is simple in its function, but hugely complex in its design. Here is a brief description of how we have taken this simple idea and turned it into a high quality product that you can rely on.

When it comes to Palisade Fencing we buy in all of our bays, but we manufacture our own gates. We have a great knowledge of Palisade Fencing in terms of how it works and therefore know that our suppliers are providing products that are of an exceptional quality. The Palisade Fencing that we supply is different from your standard Palisade Fencing in a variety of ways. These are:

Our Rails

The top rails that we supply are slightly different to standard rails, they help to help prevent people from climbing your fence as- there is an added spike that is positioned in between each pale.  Not only does this make intrusion difficult, but also works as a deterrent.

Our Pales

Unlike standard Palisade pales, our pales are made using a manufacturing method called Cold Rolling. This method involves putting folds into the steel as it is being rolled. This makes the pale many times stronger than the equivalent pale of the same thickness. The pales are lighter, easier to assemble and easier to transport.

Our Fixtures

When it comes to fitting Palisade Fencing there are various parts and fixings that need to be bolted together.  These bolts have special nuts that snap off when they get to their maximum tightness. This means that not only can they not be over tightened (which could damage the fence), but they also cannot be undone by people who attempt to dismantle your fence to gain unauthorised access.

Standard Hoarding –This is offered in two different heights - 2.0m and 2.4m high; depending on the level of security needed.  Ex Hire Hoarding can also be purchased through our website.
SteelWall Hoarding –This is a more refined type of hoarding, which is commonly used for sites that are operating on a long term basis. With SteelWall, the posts are concreted into the ground for maximum stability and durability. The Panels themselves are also reusable. Privacy is also increased due to the closed gap between the panels. This is also useful for protecting the public from any debris caused by site works. SteelWall can also be Powder Coated and branded to your needs.
Ultimate SteelWall - This type offers an unparalleled level of strength for premium site security. Constructed using heavy duty panels, posts and couplers; Ultimate SteelWall has wind resistance up to the BS6299 standard.

Mesh Fencing

There are three types of Mesh Fencing within this range and each of these are available in a variety of heights and compatible gates (except V Mesh).
V Mesh Fencing – V Mesh Fencing is a popular type of Mesh fencing as it combines a high level of security with a stylish design.
Twin Mesh Fencing – Twin Mesh is available to two different types; 656 and 868. These refer to the diameter of the wires which make the ‘sandwich’ of mesh within the panels.

Brand New Standard Railings Range Online Now!

First Fence has now introduced a brand new product range on our website- Standard Railings! Standard Railings are slightly thinner in diameter but are made with solid steel bars, whereas our Self-Raking range is made from rolled steel and have hollow bars. Our Standard Railings are designed to be stepped if constructed on sloped ground and are thus non-raking.
Depending on whether you are erecting Railings on hard or soft ground, we have both Dig In and Bolt Down post types to suit your requirements.

Here is a quick overview of the new products in this range:

Bow Top Railings

Our Bow Top Railings are designed to be aesthetically pleasing, yet hardwearing due to the galvanisation of the steel.
Each bar is moulded to feature a hooped top, so the railing system does not contain any sharp or potentially harmful edges. Their safe construction means that they are often a popular option for public and residential areas.

Vertical Bar Railings

Vertical Bar Railings are also designed with safety in mind; however unlike Bow Top Railings they feature bars which have square-cut tops. The shape and position of the bars also make the railing system difficult to climb over, which will effectively help to prevent people from gaining unauthorised access to your site.

Railing Gates

We offer many sizes of gates which are compatible with either the Standard Bow Top or Vertical Bar Railings Range. As we fabricate all of our gates on site, we can also manufacture custom gates to suit our customers’ individual needs.
We supply Pedestrian, Single Leaf and Double Leaf Gates in a range of widths and heights, so whether you need to provide pedestrian or vehicle access, you are sure to find the right gate that meets your requirements.
